All Tacx Smart trainers communicate metrics like speed, power and cadence via ANT+ and Bluetooth. Most bike computers and sports watches which are equipped with Bluetooth or ANT+ technology are able receive this data and display real time on screen. With most devices it also possible log and save the data for analysis or to upload to Strava.
When your Smart trainer is connected to an application like Zwift or the Tacx software it is also possible to connect your bike computer or sport watch as a second screen to display your data. This is only possible when the trainer is connected via Bluetooth to the application and your second device is ANT+ equipped. This is possible because your smart trainer is broadcasting your data simultaneously via Bluetooth and ANT+.
Note: When there is a difference between the cycling speed displayed in the app and the bike computer, this is because of virtual speed.
Some bike computer are able to digitally control your trainer. Please see below for a list of Garmin devices which support this feature:
- Garmin 1030
- Garmin 1000
- Garmin 820
- Garmin 520
Note: When the primary connection of your Tacx Smart trainer is with your bike computer or Sport watch, it is not possible to connect to another application. Please disconnect your bike computer and connect to the application of choice.
