There are 3 ways to ride programs:
- Create your own workout (import or by creation)
- Ride a film via Tacx desktop application
- Use the Tacx Training plan program
There are 5 options you can choose from:
This is like a mountain stage ride. You create a certain % of Slope and the Smart trainer will follow this specific resistance. You can set this on Time or Distance (Slope - Distance can be compared with a Film in the Tacx Desktop application).
This program will adapt the resistance based on your heartbeat. So if you set it to 150 HB and you go over this, the resistance will drop.
You set a certain wattage (example 200 Watt) and the trainer will adapt to this certain wattage level. Wattage is based on your own performance (speed) and the resistance the trainer gives. So if you start cycling 30 km an hour and your wattage is 150 Watt, the brake will react and add 50 Watt of resistance, so with 30 km an hour you will push 200 Watt. Check with the trainers what kind of Cycling experience you have with different trainers. A stronger trainer can adapt these wattage better then the cheaper ones.
Function Threshold power. If you have performed the FTP test in the Tacx Training app, then you can create workouts based on your FTP value. This is done on % of your FTP. Also many training plan programs are based on your FTP value.
You can import any .GPX file coming from Garmin, website or other way. It is important with .GPX files that there is a height profile information, else the import will not work. Creating a GPS workout works different than the other workouts.
You can drag a GPX file into the website or choose a file from your PC and then upload it to the cloud.
You have then 3 options to select smoothing. The reason for this is, that websites (strava etc) are using calculated heightprofiles that can cause rides to go from 5% to 20% and back in 1 sec. To prevent this in a ride, we have 3 options:
- Low: rides from high quality bicycles gps computers that has a barometric height sensor in it can be imported with this. The data is very accurate and there is no adaption needed by Tacx
- Normal: recommended for all other bicycle gps computers
- High: websites imports and mobile phone recorded data
As an example we will show you what you can do to create a workout in Wattage Time (used a lot).
The blue area reflects the training. You can increase time and wattage by dragging the dot bars up or to the left, or change the data at the lower screen options. When the section is done, select INSERT.
A new section will appear. You can repeat the same procedure. If you want to copy one of the earlier section, just select the section so it is light blue and select COPY followed by PASTE.
This way you can easy create sections. If you want copy paste different sections select the first part of the section and select GROUP. Now select the last section.
If you select COPY and then Paste you can copy-paste complete parts of the training.
When you are done, select SAVE.
Because the the cloud is connected to the applications it will synchronize the training to your applications. If you login the training is shown.
