The NEO does not need a lot of maintenance, but the movable parts do.
Greasing the freehub body
If there is a sound related issue that is refered as "cracking sound when riding" then this is an issue related to the cassette and free-hub body. We advise to clean the axle and grease the inside of the body. Also cleaning the cassette is advised. It is important to check this each year, to prevent cracking and clicking sounds.
- Alan key: 5mm
- White grease
- Remove the freehub body (including the cassette) of the NEO/FLUX. Use the Alan key: 5 mm
- Remove the black ring from the axles
- Grease the ring and freehub body
Place everything back when this is done.
Metal sound between the disc
There are very strong magnets on the inside of the disc. In some situations a metal pieces comes between the disc (movement or parts from the chain/cassette). This could result to a metal against metal sound when the disc is turned. This can be heard in this video clip: Shane Miller.
Tacx has a special tool, the Tacx NEO Extractor tool that can be used for maintenance on the NEO and solve the sound issue.
