The NEO Smart is the most silent trainer available on the market. However in some cases, the trainer may make a noise that is out of the ordinary. Please see below for a list of known sounds.
In some cases a whistling sound is produced when cycling with a certain speed (around 35 km/h or 21 mph). This sound is caused by air being pushed between the rotating parts of the NEO Smart and is considered as normal behavior.
In some cases a cracking sound is coming from the bike trainer, but only occurs while cycling. Here are two possible reasons that can cause this noise.
Greasing of freehub body:
This can easily be solved with a with little maintenance. Please go to "Maintenance & care" for instruction on how to grease your NEO Smart.
In some cases the cracking sound is caused by the cassette that is too loosely assembled. Please make sure the cassette is assembled tight enough, by by tightening the lockring.
The NEO Smart is equipped with 32 very strong Neodymium magnets. These magnets are so strong that it might attract metal dust, which could get trapped between the rotating parts. If this occurs it will generate a metal or scraping sound coming from behind the metal disc. If this is the case this could be easily solved. Please contact our support desk and visit the "Maintenance & care" page.
