This article covers the installation process for setting up your Tacx FLUX Smart trainer, together with all compatibility questions regarding axles, cassettes and bicycles.
The following video will show you how to install your cassette, install the axle, mount your bike to the trainer and explain what the different LED lights mean.
The Tacx FLUX Smart comes with a standard 5 mm quick release. When your bike requires a different axle, we offer the following options:
- T2835 (142x12mm & 148x12mm)
- T2840 (135x10mm)
Please click here for more information or to purchase these items.
The following video will show how to install the T2835 or T2840 on your NEO Smart:
Disc brakes (5mm quick release only)
In case you have a disc brake with a standard 5mm axle, please use the extra spacer included with your FLUX Smart.
Please check which cassette body is mounted to your FLUX Smart trainer:
- EDCO multisys body (2015, 2016 and 2017)
- Shimano/SRAM (2018)
Check "Documentation and models" for an overview on how to recognize which body is mounted to your FLUX Smart trainer.
The EDCO multisys body is compatible with all Shimano and SRAM cassettes from 9 to 11 speed. Most Campagnolo cassettes will fit, however there are a few exceptions: Centaur 9,10 and 11 speed (2009-2011) and Veloce 10 speed.
This is a standard Shimano/SRAM body. Any 8 to 11 speed Shimano or SRAM cassette can be placed on this body. Besides, a standard lockring can be used in combination with this Shimano/SRAM body.
In case you have a Campagnolo groupset there are a few options. The first is that the Shimano/SRAM body can be easily replaced by a Campagnolo body. This body is sold separately on www.tacx.com. Another option is to use a Shimano 11 speed cassette in combination with your Campagnolo 11 speed groupset, however this is not recommended.
Note: Our recommendation is to use a new cassette and preferably a new chain. This will reduce noise levels and therefor improves you cycling experience.
Note: XD cassette (R.A.T. system) and SRAM 12 speed cassettes are not compatible with the FLUX Smart
A bicycle equipped with a long cage derailleur do not fit the FLUX. The maximum distance between the axle and the top of the FLUX’s leg is 200 mm (please see image below).
