Vortex / Flow

On this page you can find information about the Vortex and Flow (also Flow Multiplayer)

Vortex

Tacx released different Vortex models.

T2170 i-Vortex ANT+ / T1960 Vortex (white model)

This trainer has only ANT+ communication and can only be connected with Tacx Trainer Software 4, Tacx Cycling App or Tacx Training App, when the tablet or Smartphone support ANT+.

T2180 Vortex Smart

Works with ANT+ (FE-C connection with Third party Apps) and Bluetooth.

The brake has no resistance or cadence.

Check if the electronic part of the brake is connected with the midpart. If not, push the electronic back by hand.

When I turn on the brake it will show a red light or no lights.

This means there is a hardware fault with the brake unit. With the Vortex Smart you can try to run the Tacx Utility app and see of it connects. If it does use the UPDATE FIRMWARE proces. If this option does not work, make a picture of the dashboard and send it to support@tacx.com

What to do with a solid Amber / Orange light?

For the non smart models, you can run the update program via Tacx Trainer software (C:\Program Files (x86)\Tacx\TacxTrainersoftware4\updater). Select the Vortex brake. If this does not work, please contact the (web) shop for the repair service. This proces also works with the Smart versions. If you do not have Tacx Trainer Software 4, then please use the Tacx Utility App and select firmware update. This will also solve the problem.

The brake makes a lot of noise.

Disengage the tire from the brake unit. Push your thumb hard against the metal band of the metal roller. If you hear a click or notice that the metal band is loose, you will need to contact the (web) shop where you purchased the trainer (this indicates that the metal roller is loose and is touching the back of the plastic casing). The midpart needs to be replaced

Check to see if the metal roller contains rubber residue. Rubber particles make the tire bumpy and noisy. Always keep the metal roller clean. You can clean the roller with White Spirit or Vinegar.

Should I disconnect the power from the mains.

Tacx always advise to disconnect the powercord from the mains, while you are not using the trainer.

Certificates

T2180 Vortex smart CE certificate

FLOW

Tacx released different Vortex models.

T2270 i-Flow ANT+ / Flow Multiplayer

This trainer has only ANT+ communication and only be connected with Tacx Trainer Software 4.

T2240 Flow Smart

Works with ANT+ (FE-C connection with Third party Apps) and Bluetooth.

The brake makes a lot of noise.

When you hear this sound, then the shaft is bent. The Flywheel is not straight and causes vibrations and sound. The only solution for this sound is to contact the (web) shop where you purchased the product to start the repair process.

Should I disconnect the power from the mains.

Tacx always advise to disconnect the powercord from the mains, while you are not using the trainer.

The software can find the Flow handlebar controller, but cannot find the brake

Please check if the cables are correct connected from the handlebar to the brake. It helps sometimes to turn the cable around. If the brake is still not found, then please contact your (web) shop. The is a possibility that there is an electronic failure.

Flow Multiplayer / wired flow trainer resistance goes up and down or resistance is locked for 5 min

When you start a training and the resistance is locked high for 5 minutes at start of the trainer or the resistance goes up and down, then please contact support@tacx.com. There could be a fault with the handlebar controller and Tacx can fix this for you. Please add a picture of the back of the T1932 handlebar controller (Tacx needs the serialnumbers to confirm) to the email.
